Report of a short road trip to the Texas of Sweden.
Suddenly I saw a workshop in my Facebook feed where 2 pitmasters from Texas would explain how they prepare ribs and brisket low and slow.
Location: Holy Smoke BBQ restaurant, in Sweden.
I immediately thought: this is where I have to go.
My teammate Dimi also liked this and so we decided to ride together.
Driving? Yes driving. Holy Smoke is only a 1.5 hour drive above Copenhagen, so that was perfectly doable. A little road trip. Through 5 countries. To find out what Brisket tastes like in Texas.
But Tom, you can fly to Copenhagen and then drive on, right? That was possible, but I didn't think of that until we were already in Copenhagen. Silly us. Typically me.
Anyway: Holy Smoke is considered the best BBQ restaurant in Sweden, and is built like the BBQ joints in Texas.
They have some authentic Mill Scale Smokers on display
It's raw and cool and outdoors. During the year only open during the year, in the summer every day. If you ever go there, just follow your gps, because it's really in the middle of nowhere. Visitors really have to travel some distance to get there to eat.
By the way, there is also a BBQ restaurant with the same name in Brussels, but they are not related.
